Random Friday night photo

A photo by the Flying Doctor Service - a camel thinking home sweet home while a dust storm comes to Boulia, far west Queensland.
The town has about 230 people and is on the edge of the Simpson Desert (go into that unprepared and you die).
Boulia is also the name of a crater on Mars. It is likely not as nice a place.

  1. No armed right wing 'militia' in the photo? Either Australia is lucky, or they are afraid of stepping in camel feces...

    1. There are no bird sanctuaries and they're too frightened of camels and snakes.

    2. Rather different attitude to the government. As in... 'the government is what helps our town stay alive'.

  2. No matter how many times I see it, I cannot fathom camels in Australia. But, it looks like the perfect placed for them in this photo.

    1. There are over a million camels that are feral, let alone ones that are domesticated. Even so, culls tend to upset people out in TV land, who need not worry about feral camels contaminating their only drinking water and ripping up their sanitation systems.
